Roof replacement is not simply the act of removing old roofing material and installing new material in its place. It is the construction of a complete roofing system whose performance depends on the cumulative quality of dozens of individual decisions made throughout the installation process: the underlayment type selected, the nailing pattern used, the flashing method applied at each transition, the ventilation configuration established, the edge detail executed at every eave and rake. SkyCrest Roofing manages all of these decisions correctly on every replacement project we accept in Tangent, OR because we understand that each one affects the long-term performance of the system we are putting on your property.
Our replacement process begins before any materials are ordered or installation dates are scheduled. We perform a complete structural assessment of the existing roof including a thorough evaluation of the roof deck for rot, delamination, inadequate sheathing thickness, and insufficient fastening into the framing below. Decking repairs identified during this assessment are completed before new roofing is installed, because new roofing fastened into compromised sheathing does not achieve the wind uplift resistance ratings that manufacturers specify and that your property needs. We provide unit pricing for any decking work that becomes necessary during teardown so there are no billing surprises at project completion.
Material selection for Tangent, OR replacement projects is guided by the specific performance requirements of your property, the expected ownership period you are planning for, and your budget. For most residential properties in the region, mid-grade to premium architectural asphalt shingles provide the best combination of cost, longevity, and aesthetic quality. For properties with specific performance requirements, including locations with documented hail history, high wind exposure, or owners who want maximum service life from a single installation, we discuss impact-resistant shingle lines, Class 4 impact-rated products, and metal roofing systems whose higher initial cost may be well justified when amortized over an extended service life.
Installation follows manufacturer specifications at every step because these specifications define the conditions under which warranty coverage remains valid. Nailing zone adherence, underlayment lap dimensions, starter strip placement and fastening, valley treatment, and flashing installation at every penetration and transition all receive the same precision during installation on your Tangent, OR property that they would receive during a quality control inspection. At project completion, we register your manufacturer warranty, provide our workmanship guarantee documentation, and perform thorough site cleanup before we consider the project closed.
